LE MOYNE COLLEGE LIBRARY JOINS PALCI TO ENHANCE COLLABORATION, COMMUNITY, AND INNOVATION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Welcome New Member Le Moyne College effective July 1, 2024

DREXEL HILL, PA, July 1, 2024 — The Partnership for Academic Library Collaboration and Innovation (PALCI) is pleased to announce that Le Moyne College’s Noreen Reale Falcone Library will join its membership starting July 1. This addition marks a significant milestone, making Le Moyne College (Syracuse, NY) the 77th member and the first in Central New York state, further expanding PALCI’s reach and solidifying its largest membership in the organization’s 25+ year history.

PALCI has a longstanding tradition of fostering community and collaboration to provide cost-effective access to a wealth of academic resources. With this membership, students, faculty, and researchers at Le Moyne College will benefit from PALCI’s extensive resource-sharing network, which includes academic and research libraries in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Through PALCI’s shared catalog and EZBorrow service, patrons of Le Moyne College’s Library will have access to a vast collection of over 46 million items shared by member institutions. Additionally, PALCI’s strategic licensing programs will offer significant savings on electronic library materials, including eBooks, eJournals, and primary sources, through innovative licensing terms negotiated collaboratively with publishers and vendors.

Library Director Lisa Chaudhuri emphasized the value of joining PALCI, stating, “Le Moyne aligns well with PALCI’s focus on cost-effective and sustainable access. The combination of PALCI’s strategic licensing programs and the EZBorrow service will greatly enhance our ability to achieve our mission and goals.”

A hallmark of PALCI membership is the integration into the renowned EZBorrow resource sharing platform, powered by the open-source ReShare platform – a system that the Le Moyne Library staff and user community is already familiar with. Now, with this service through PALCI, this state-of-the-art system streamlines interlibrary loan services, providing efficient access to physical materials, such as books, from more than 60 PALCI member libraries across five states.

Chaudhuri added, “Beyond the tangible benefits of EZBorrow and the consortium’s innovative approaches to licensing eResources and services, the sense of community among PALCI member libraries is impressive. For an institution like Le Moyne, collaboration is key to innovation, and we are excited to both contribute to and benefit from this vibrant community, in line with our strong Jesuit tradition.”

In the coming weeks, Le Moyne College Library’s team will collaborate with PALCI and its service providers to strategize the technical aspects of EZBorrow implementation. A comprehensive training and onboarding program for library staff is underway, with a launch date to be announced later this year.

Jill Morris, PALCI Executive Director, expressed her excitement, saying, “Le Moyne is a valuable addition to the PALCI partnership. Their eagerness to engage and contribute underscores the many collaboration possibilities ahead. Our staff is already working closely with Lisa’s team to ensure they can hit the ground running.”
