This position will provide outreach to the growing number of interdisciplinary programs on campus related to earth and environmental sciences, climate, and energy research and policy. This position will focus on support for research, teaching, and learning in these subject areas including the provision of group and individual instruction; consultation for basic and advanced research and for academic courses; student engagement programming, orientations and tours; and will provide library support for aspects of scholarly communication including copyright and publishing guidance and related scholarly services. The position will have collection development responsibilities as assigned for a variety of content including data sets.

Central to the position will be collaboration with other subject librarians who provide collection development in related areas and who provide research and instructional services to associated schools and departments. Additionally, the position will collaborate with other Penn Libraries staff engaged in developing interdisciplinary research support services across campus and will model best practices for such outreach.

These interdisciplinary programs reach across several schools, including, but not limited to, the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Design, the Wharton School, and the School of Engineering and Applied Science. Centers include the Center for Environmental Building & Design; the Center for Excellence in Environmental Toxicology; the Wharton School’s Business, Climate, and Environment Lab; the Energy Research Group; the Kleinman Center for Energy Policy; the Vagelos Institute for Energy Science and Technology; and the Vagelos Integrated Program in Energy Research.

The individual will also participate in general Reference and Chat, the Critical Writing Program, and other shared responsibilities.

The position will report to the Assistant Director for STEM Libraries.
