The University of Pennsylvania Libraries is seeking a part-time Digital Projects Assistant (DPA) to work up to 20 hours a week in Cultural Heritage Computing. The DPA will prepare images and metadata for cultural heritage material for ingestion into OPenn (http://openn.library.upenn.edu) by running prepared scripts and maintaining an established workflow. The DPA may also prepare images and metadata for ingestion into, Colenda, the Penn Libraries’ digital repository. Training in the Unix command line interface will be provided if needed, but the DPA should have a facility with computers and knowledge of library metadata standards. The DPA will also maintain project records to keep track of thousands of digitized items, and therefore must have strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail. Other tasks include updating OPenn’s Instagram account, performing quality control on items successfully ingested into OPenn and the digital repository and other tasks related to digital projects.
