Reporting to the Head, Veterinary Libraries, the Assistant Head provides instructional, outreach, and research services to facutly, staff, students, and clinicians at the two locations of the School of Veterinary Medicine. Approximately two days a week are spent at the newly refurbished DuPont Library at New Bolton Center in Chester County, with three days a week at the Atwood Library in West Philadelphia, a hub for student learning, centrally located within the Hill Pavilion. This will vary depending upon service needs. The position will develop and conduct workshops on database searching and productivity tools such as citation managers, and will be instrumental in integrating library instruction and information literacy into the school’s new curriculum through teaching and development of videos and web-based documentation. Responsible for all aspects of the New Bolton Center library’s operations (collection access and maintenance, maintaining and promoting the library space, and overseeing the service desk), the Assistant Head will also contribute to operations at Atwood Library. Special projects will include bibliometric research impact reports. The postion will engage broadly with Penn Libraries, participating in the Critical Writing Program and online chat reference.
